Support Our Work

A township-led project, twenty‑odd years in the making.

The story began in the 1990s with a small Visitors Information Centre at Sivuyile, supported by the City of Cape Town. It lost momentum in the early 2000s — but the community never let go of the idea. In 2021, the Gugulethu Memorial Monument Committee picked the vision back up, and the Gugulethu Heritage and Tourism Development NPC now coordinates tourism, heritage and culture across the township.

Start with the Monument, then walk the township that built it.

From the Gugulethu Memorial Monument to the streets renamed for struggle-era heroes, Gugulethu rewards a slow, guided walk.
